ABOUT SDR

Sunshine Dog Rescue became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in May 2015. Long before, our passion for dogs encouraged us to help the dogs in our county shelter, so we did.

Our mission is rescuing medium to large breed dogs & puppies from high kill shelters & unsafe conditions. We give each animal proper vet care, vaccinations, rehabilitation, microchip & basic training to secure their future in a furever home.

ABOUT ANITA

My name is Anita Osa and I am the owner of Sunshine Dog Rescue. For 10 years, I was an elementary special education teacher in the Paradise Valley School District. Since I was a young girl, I have always had a passion for dogs. My first "rescue" was with my brother behind a grocery store. We found three abandoned puppies, took them home, and cared for them.

I can’t remember a moment in my life when I didn't care for multiple dogs.  The homeless dog population is a man-made situation that I feel I need to be a part of, along with my wonderful husband Larry. Together, we are committed to fighting for a dog's second chance at life. Owning a rescue has a staggering demand, but watching every sick pup flourish or finding a new home for dogs who have spent months in a county shelter is worth it.
